Headquartered in Johnstown, Ohio and founded in 1939, Tech International is the world's leading producer of tire and tube repairs and wheel service solutions.
Today, Tech markets more than 5,000 products into over 110 countries throughout the world. The company is recognized as one of the top exporters in the United States and has received numerous export awards from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and the Ohio Department of Commerce.
During its nearly 70 years of operation, Tech International has remained a family-owned, privately held company, continually owned and managed by the Chambers family.
Pauline Chambers Yost's life stands as a testament to the value of effort, perserverance and entrepreneurial spirit.
The stepdaughter of Tech founder Charles Cornell, who started Tech in 1939, Pauline and her first husband, Frank Chambers, through sacrifice and hard work, took a small tube repair manufacturing company and grew Tech to become the world's leading producer of tire repairs. Their belief in the people of Johnstown, Ohio, and in establishing a network of exclusive distributors to sell Tech products are testimony to their beliefs in making a difference in people's lives, in vitalizing a community, in facing adversity and growing stronger from it, and in fulfilling the American Dream.
When Frank Chambers passed away in 1972, Pauline took control of Tech, becoming our President and CEO. During her nearly three decades as serving as the Company's President and CEO, Tech became the largest producer of tire repairs and wheel service products in the world.
If you asked Pauline what she considered her greatest achievement, the answer would have been no surprise to anyone who knew her
Four generations of employees have worked at Tech's production facilities. Pauline and Tech have provided jobs and career opportunities to thousands of employees and distributors. Tech has enabled its distributors throughout the world to run their own businesses and set their own standards for success. Her philanthropic and humanitarian efforts have been recognized throughout Ohio. Pauline certainly has made a difference.
Pauline and her second husband, Walter Yost, passed away as a result of an automobile accident on September 1, 2001.
Pauline was one of the most remarkable entrepreneurs of her generation. Her vision, her business methods and her belief in people resulted in the creation of one of the most successful privately-owned companies in America. Her success is documented. She won both the U.S. Department of Commerce's "E" Award and "E" Star Award and accepted the "E" Star Award from then U.S. President, Ronald Regan, in the White House Rose Garden.
Through her vision of the future and the many initiatives she began at Tech, her legacy continues to provide the foundation from which Tech continues to grow and prosper globally.
